Following in My Parents' Footsteps: A Journey of Passion and Purpose
For as long as I can remember, my parents have been entrepreneurs. Growing up, I witnessed firsthand their unwavering determination, boundless tenacity, courage of conviction, and vibrant passion. No matter what challenges came their way or how the weather turned, they always pressed forward. As a child, it all seemed effortless to me, but now that I am walking a similar path, I am truly in awe of everything they have achieved.
Taking a passion and transforming it into a business is a remarkable act and a beautiful creation and an extension of who you are. However, I have come to realize that passion alone is not enough. There is so much more to learn, and those lessons do not always come easily. Long hours are spent figuring things out because, as an entrepreneur, you are the one carving the way forward. There are days when motivating myself feels tough, when the urge to simply curl up on the couch, watch a good movie, and answer to no one is strong. It is on these days that I understand what my parents must have felt in order to keep their passion going, the story they wanted to share, and the offering their souls wished to bring forth.
Opening my yoga studio and candle business is an experience that words can hardly capture. At its core, there is a remarkable energy, a unique “fuel” that keeps propelling me forward. On days when uncertainty creeps in and I wonder how things will work out, I am often met with new ideas and renewed motivation to continue.
What I hope to offer this community goes beyond yoga classes and candles. My true gift is a feeling, a sense of connection with others. Living a healthy life involves more than just eating well and moving your body; it is also about forming connections and building relationships. This, I believe, is the web and heart of life itself.
As the days draw closer to the grand opening of my small but heart-centred studio, I am continually inspired by those around me, uplifted by kindness, and deeply grateful for the ability to recognize when I need moments of stillness to reconnect with my own heart. This journey began long before I realized it, with my parents quietly teaching and guiding me all along. My hope is that my own children will gain silent strength on their journeys, just as I have and continue to do.
